Software which is not closed-source, but not quite open, either.
Not all software that's publically available is open-source. For example, a project with a BSL 1.1 license is not open-source. This license does grant you rights similar to an open-source license (viewing, modifying, redistributing), but only under certain conditions.
You can check any Git repo whether it's ajar-source. If the licensing is complex, it will show relevant info.
